The Plaid #19 plays poker for the Toys for Tots!
On December 11, 2007, the Plaid #19 participated in and assisted with the Toys for Tots poker Tournament hosted by Banditos Burrito Restaurant in Richmond, VA. It was a wonderful night for all players, marines and various others. In attendance for the event was Doug Fritz (pictured with AJ) the President of Richmond International Raceway, who gave his blessings and thanks and allowed the tournament to begin.
The night began with tables full of players eager to make the "final table" all entered through donations of toys or money for the purchase of items for the program. The tree at the front of the restaurant glowed as the floor around filled with games, dolls, toys and trucks. Outside sat several shiny new bikes and trikes another wonderful donation.
The tournament found our drivers pitted against each other for the first half of the tournament, going head to head until table breakdown began. Late into the tournament of over 100 both of our drivers still remained. Finally in the final 20 our first driver fell, flush beaten by a river full house. Still a great showing for the Plaid. Our final driver AJ, finished the night at the final table sixth overall.
To everyone's delight the Plaid #99 shone brightly and was on display with it's championship trophies and everyone could get an inside look at their leisure. At Bandito's request during Tournament breaks AJ fired it up for everyone to enjoy. Winstead Motorsports was most gracious and we thank them.
Thanks to the efforts of all of the sponsors, players and everyone behind the scenes, there will be many shining faces with a special something under their tree this Christmas.
